It's Good to Have Unexpectancy At Times

It's always the unexpected that brings out the best blessings outta nowhere. Just look at this beautiful Sunday where there were supposed to be a meet up with Mel and Jolene for lunch and Starbucks and also an evening movies with some church mates of which I haven't spent any time at all with them ever. I was really looking forward to that, and it's after all a movie which the world says it's too awesome to miss it. Anyway, it's Transformers 2. I ain't really a fan of these kinda Sci-Fi movies. First off, there's nothing to comment about acting because they are all robots. Plus, it's Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox, nothing really worth seeing.

So, there I went, realizing the wallet-killing parking rates at Pavilion, but still parked 'coz I've got no choice. Upon reaching, I received a call from Mel who happens to be part of the movie plan which I wasn't aware of. I was overjoyed. We were just saying that we aren't really fans of these kinda movies. We seem to really like Chick Flicks and I agree with what she says, at least it's something about life rather than robots flying around. We should just go watch movies together.

Ghosts_of_girlfriends_past

We had like 20 over people coming to watch together and normally these things are difficult to organize especially when the movie is such a big hit. Apparently, they lack a ticket for another person. So being kind people, we gave up our tickets and carried on with our original lunch plan, transferring it to dinner time and then my all time favourite, Starbucks. Despite being sick, I still ordered my usual.

Anyway, the catching up session was really fun. You know, those sharing on our respective lives and also "interesting" facts about people. Haha. I'm still laughing at the things I heard, they're simply hillarious. Not forgetting the Starbucks waiter whom she thinks was hitting on me. His name is Alvin, NO, I'm not interested, Mel. It's really inspiring to hear about Mel's life, seriously. I find it so exciting every time I hear about her new plans and things that are going on. I feel that I haven't been sharing enough about myself to her anyway, maybe because my life's just too boring. So, I've got nothing much to talk about.

There you go! A coincidental unexpectancy. Although the opportunity cost was to give up a good time with the crazy bunch of church friends, it's just pure blessing to enjoy a good talk, a good, laugh, good coffee, "interesting" encounter and also a life-learning sharing session which inspires me thoroughly, with a sister whom I respect and adore. Oh, I miss those days of LG. And I quote from Mel's Twitter page, "melalyn@KelvinKM Y'know what's better than Transformers2? Not watching it! Had an unplanned great time with Kelvin! Beat that, robots and man chick". It's so funny if you know what it means.

Prom Night 2009 - Prelude

...the "beforemath"

The night's finally here. Here's a little teaser on what I'm gonna be wearing after much contemplation:

Untitled-1

The Look
Presenting:
CIMG2677

Kelvin, dressed in a sleek vest, with an Esprit full-length shirt underneath accompanied with a slim brown tie. Clad in a greyish Esprit slacks together with a pair of Timberland shoes. However, there are questions on whether he should be wearing the grey Esprit slacks and the pair of Timberland. Anyway, it still looks good on him, going along with the tone of his skin.

The Day
Okay, let's get away from vanity (I can't help it, it's in me). Well, the event itself was nothing special. It's like any other dress-up formal parties, with performances and yes, the theme is Hollywood, but nothing like it. So it's not exactly worthy of my post but I'll still do it.

It is the day where:

CIMG2523
the girls get to dress up like birds supreme~

It is the day where:

CIMG2672
I found my long lost brother~

If it were not for:

4883_199052575084_602000084_7663415_4691492_n
these people, I would've been bored to death.
We are so not bored of doing liong poses
~

Not forgetting, it is the day where:

CIMG2588
eating watermelon is of sheer bliss~

That's prom!

Why are you so obsessed with me?

Finally, a new song from Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel. This special single is specially made for Eminem, the idiot. It's definitely something different from Mariah. It's urban, it's fun, it's catchy but not exactly the Mariah-fied songs. But I being biased still love it.

Nice cover art. Looking hot as ever!

"Why are you so obsessed with me?" is my new tagline because she said it in such a convincing way. Mariah said there will be BIG ballads, Perez (yes, I follow Mariah on Twitter). You be patient okay?

Can't wait.

Just A Reminder

Not many singers are capable of capturing my heart for their singing but there's this one and only singer and I believe most of you would actually know who she is. In my whole 20 years of life, I've gone past being fans for one singer after another and I would abandon them after awhile. She's the only one that I am still loyal to and she never fails to capture my heart every time she sings. She's none other than the awesomest singer alive - Mariah Carey.

Watching these few videos just reminded me of how great, sweet, powerful, awesome, impactful - and it goes on and on - her voice is.

It's even more heart-melting in 3:40. She obviously sang this better than
Diana Ross (without bias)

I think people just went to see her sing. Like whenever she hits those great notes effortlessly, people will clap and cheer.

When I watched these 2 videos, I just questioned myself how could someone that talented be possibly living in this world. Oh, if only I know her like personally. Maybe I should work towards that, in my dreams. Anyway, can't wait for her new album releasing this September and her new single this coming Tuesday.

Time of the Year

It's finally the time of the year, again - falling ill.
It's not like I'm getting the full package of illness but a couple of it would kill.
I guess it's the constant stress over studies, the late night sleeps
And constant thoughts about my so-called future.
Then there's The Mad Race that over-stretched all of that and viola,
I'm now sick.

I can't believe I wasted my whole Monday sleeping in the library after class.
I was supposed to be studying for my midterms next week but nope, I didn't.
My eyes and head were obviously too heavy to do any of those.
Come'n I even forgo Starbucks even when I was there with Hashridz.
It's better to forgo that than to make diarrhea a better friend of mine.

Anyway, I even forgo dinner for that and went to sleep right after I came back from meeting.
The sleep was too awesome and surprisingly, I'm feeling much better now.
I guess it was really the lack of sleep constantly.
Hopefully like what Addy said, I might lose weight! Haha =p

The Mad Race, Pt.2 - Scandalously Sinful

...continued from "The Mad Race Pt. 1"

So, after the KLCC station, we were supposed to go back to Melati station and then look for Gomback community hall. Seriously, to run back to the station takes up too much energy. Thank goodness from KLCC back to Melati took quite some time so we can rest awhile in the LRT. We have now surpassed Jolene's team. We wondered what would happen in the community hall. When we reached we quickly asked the ticket-seller where the community hall was and she directed us there. So we kinda saved time. Surprisingly, when we reached the field at the hall, we saw the 1st two teams there. Jireh's team left the place as we walked in while the other team were still doing it. The task here was to put your finger on the ground, your left hand on your right ear and spin around 10 times and then take turns to fill up a bottle with a big new sponge. All of use couldn't stand straight after every spin. Good team members support each other very much. We finished in no time. The earlier two teams have left and we are only about 20minutes behind time.

Next leg: Arts Market, Central Market. On our way back to the station, we decided to take a little risk by buying another ticket to Kelana Jaya, in case we needed it. No harm because we can use it anyway since it was the furthest station. We were supposed to do the chicken dance that we learnt earlier on or journey to the Central Market. That's like 12 stations away or so. As sporting as we were, doing a chicken dance in an lrt is beyond humiliating, seriously. I had the urge to do it but looking at the amount of people coming in and out from the train killed the courage. We decided to do it once we reached the station, and it was crazy.

video

Right after that, we rushed to Central Market. Another round of running like a mad bull. On our way crossing over to Central Market, we literally stopped cars for us to pass through quickly. So much for putting safety first. So we met Darius the station master. He wasn't satisfied that we only had one video on our chicken dance and wanted to give us a 3minute penalty. We were to kiasu, so we did it on the spot. Yes, this is already beyond shameless. Do you know the amount of people who were in CM? I've thrown my ego into the drain since then. After doing it, we heard people around laughing profusely, seriously.

video

So, the task was to take pictures of the items listed in the given list. There were 10 of them and it was quite hard to find some of them. We ran around CM like a bunch of hooligans. Some of them were hidden while some of them were too visible that we missed them. There was this shop owner who was too kiasu to not let us take the picture of his golden globe. But who cares? We took anyway. Some shop owner said can't too but before they finished, I'm already done with it and I just apologize with the picture. No time for petty guilts. Once again we met the other two teams but they were about to finish.

Walking Stickinsect
We actually mistaken the walking stick insect for the real walking stick
Silly us! Yes we wasted time~

Only Jireh's team finished slightly earlier than us. Guess what? We bought the LRT ticket earlier and now we don't have to line up. So, we reached the LRT the same time as Jireh's team. People were pretty shocked that we made it that quickly. They reached earlier than us but we finished the same time. Such an awesome team I have with me huh?

Next station: Wangsa Maju station and head to MadMonkeyz. On our way back to Wangsa Maju, our team came up with another risk, in hope that we might beat the second team and probably even win the race.

Scandals took place
Smell of conspiracy began spreading all over the train
What was the scandal? What was the conspiracy?
Could they actually be faster and could they possibly win the race?

Stay tuned and find out~

About Criticisms

You know how sometimes people tend to tell you things that you don't wanna hear? I mean, not that you don't wanna hear but they are things that are not very encouraging to you. Sometimes, it's not like I mind getting criticisms. I love criticisms because they help you to grow as a person in those areas that you kinda suck in.

Having said so, these so called criticisms had better be constructive ones rather than destructive ones. I've encountered many criticisms in the things I do but I personally only salute and take into account those that'd help me to improve.
Some of the destructive criticisms come in forms like:

Ei, it's very ugly lah. Don't you know how to do it?
Lemme guess, this is done by you. I hate it. It's horrible!
Do you know you look terribly hideous in that?

I'm just focussing those comments on the things that I do and am not very good at it. You think it's fun to do things that I'm not very good at and all I get in return are comments that discourages you from doing it? I don't mind trying out new stuff but I'm all willing to learn. Nobody's born good at anything anyway.

What do I define constructive criticisms as? I guess it should be a destructive criticism backed with a good solution, like:

Ei, it's very ugly lah. Don't you know how to do it?
Maybe you should try putting this here and changing that...

I seriously only salute those who can give such comments. At least I learn something from it and improve from there. I particularly can't stand those people who pass comments on you when they themselves can't seem to do a better job. I've always believed that only thin people can call fat people fat. But I guess that's not how things work anyway. If American Idol can get Paula Abdul to comment on people's singing, anything can happen. I love her anyway. Haha!

After all, you can't satisfy anyone. There will be haters and I'm perfectly fine with it. On a brighter note, check out the poster I made for CF camp with the help of a friend's CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

All criticisms are welcomed!

The Mad Race, Pt. 1

Kelvin: Eih, tell me honestly larh, will it be lame arh?
Choon Yang: Err, I don't think so. At the end I think you guys will enjoy yourselves.

Honestly, I've never felt more tired in my life and thanks to The Mad Race, I finally did. The Mad Race is a "spin-off" to the hit reality show, The Amazing Race, organized by Campus Action Ministry and, no, we did not travel around the world for the race. The whole race just took place along the Kelana Jaya LRT station, with the given RM65. In the very beginning, I thought it might be kinda lame or maybe it's just so cliche and it's not gonna be tough, but boy, I was so wrong. It was indeed a MAD thing.

I was wondering how they were gonna determine which team goes first and all. So here's it. In my team of 5 people, we were given a piece of Wordhunt puzzles where you need to find ridiculously long words in the puzzle and that's how the order of the team was determined. Already I had to wake up early to go for an event and now they want me to open my eyes to look for long words? Come'n, the soul in me is not even awake so much so that, yes, my team was the last to leave church. For your information, there were 7 teams. Since we had to wait for the church van to send us to the LRT station, we had all the time as we were the last, so we had to do it.
Team
Me, Samuel, Jonathan, Michelle and Shao Shing

Finally it was our turn to get up the van to the Wangsa Maju station to begin the race. The energy began to burst out after the camwhore session during our journey to the station. We hyped ourselves up and tell ourselves that the last team to begin doesn't mean the last team to arrive. That's what happens in Amazing Race anyways. Our very first task was to proceed to the nearest end of the Putra LRT station, so there was a debate whether it's terminal or Kelana Jaya. Of course it's the terminal where it's nearest. We are supposed to find a car with the car plate 9507 and the next clue will be in the back seat. The kiasu high-spirited us ran as fast as we could trying to catch up with the other teams. Surprisingly, were ahead of one team already. Now that's pretty simple!

The next task: We had to proceed to the nearest underground station and then find the nearest petrol station. Guess what? We are supposed to assist 10 people in fulling up their tanks and get their signatures as proof. The petrol station is damn far from the station ok? We had to run like crazy. Reaching there, seeing other teams leave. I've have by far done the most ridiculous thing in my life - directing cars into petrol station in hope that they will come in fill their tanks. None! I can't believe why people do not pump petrol on a public holiday. Isn't petrol price like, cheap?(Anyway, I'm not going back to that Caltex ever). We were already quite behind time as other teams have left but more energy was picked up by determination.
(photo of me directing traffic shall be updated)

As we reached the LRT station we had to do star jumps on our journey to the next station, and it has to be recorded as a pass in our next station. You heard it, in public!

video

Next station Jelatek! At this juncture, we were already ahead of 3 teams. In the same train as Jolene's team. On the way to Jelatek, we were discussing who's gonna do the Sudoku in the next station. According to what I heard, they said Jolene is very good at Sudoku while me, I normally play halfway and then I'll give up. So I guess I'm gonna die there. We ran across the street to the tennis court opposite the station as if the road belongs to our dads. Things become more interesting when you have to pick up objects and put them in the quantity that represents the numbers in the empty boxes. So I quickly did the Sudoku while the other 4 looked for objects to fill in the blanks after I finished. We had like broken shoes, dirty plastic bags, rotten leaves, etc. Surprisingly, I got it all right in my first attempt. Maybe I should start playing Sudoku nowadays.

Again, we met Jolene's team again on our way to the next station, KLCC. We are now 4th place, not bad huh? We are supposed to go to the park once we reach KLCC and look for them. Do you know how big the park was? I had no idea. And they had to choose a spot where it's the FURTHEST. My leg was already hurting but you gotta persevere, man. Samuel was running like a leopard looking for them. Finally, we found them and we reached before Jolene's team. So, we had to stretch ourselves from our current position using a rubber band to reach the marshmallows in front of us, one by one. That's not exactly difficult but as we finished we were given a "present" - an apron where someone had to wear it throughout the whole journey. Not only that, we had to make sure the person takes 10 pictures with strangers around on our journey to the next station. Since Michelle was the only girl, she didnt mind wearing the apron. Thank God everyone we approached didn't mind becoming our victims. On our way, there were guards that were restricting us from doing any activities but we just couldn't care less.

Some of the "victims"

At this point of time, I'm feeling extremely exhausted already. But my ego is too huge to give up.

I'm sure you want know what happens after this station right? Bear with me a little while! Basing on the fact that my arms and feet are dying on me, I should be going to bed now.

Stay tuned.
Goodnight!

What's Not Green?

I can be quite picky sometimes. I mean it's not that bad, seriously. At the most, I would just give a tantrum if I couldn't get what I picked, that's all! Alright, I shouldn't exaggerate because I ain't that picky anyways but I do admit I am picky.

One good instance is my particularity (is there even such a word?) in my eating habits. To many of you, it might not even be surprising that I hate vegetables, thus my bad eyesight, my size, my unhealthy healthy body. I always get scolded by my friends for not taking vegetables when i eat.
The truth is, I do take vegetables, but not all vegetables. I came up with an equation that many thought it was stupid but to me, this equation works just fine for me:

Green + Stalk + Leaves = Vegetables

Yes, that's the equation. You don't have to be a Math whiz to know how this equation works. Anything that can't fulfil the 3 conditions of a vegetable is NOT a vegetable to me, AT ALL. For illustration purposes, I present to you:

Kailan
The perfect example of what I call a vegetable~

VegetablesL
The rest are all junks~

So this is how I order my lunch in Uni:
"Hi auntie! I would like a special fried rice, big, with well-done egg and NO vegetables. Thanks!"

This order is pretty special that all of them remember what I want and sometimes complain about my pickiness while threatening to not put any rice in my fried rice, just vegetables.

Sorry, that's just me. I guess I'm just living up to my name, guess what?
