Post-Exam Steamboat Feast

Posted by KelvinK | Posted in , ,

YES!!! So I've finally finished all my exams, OFFICIALLY! I can't believe how happy I was when the proctors collected my paper, more so because I actually have confidence in my exam. Anyway, since I'm already free as well as the rest of my SSD gang, we've planned this Steamboat Gala.

Before the steamboat session, I had to teach tuition actually. I was already dead tired after the exam, plus another 2 tuition sessions, all I could wish for is either log-like sleep or a hearty meal. I was practically dreaming of the food in the steamboat session at Angie's place.

I have to say, I bought a little too much food for just 11 people. It actually looked very little when I bought them with Angie and Sammi. However, once it's laid out, it looked like it can feed the whole Malaysia.

We even had ice cream and alot of fruits as dessert. It wasn't even part of the plan. After all the feasting, we had a really nostalgic moment (maybe not that, it's more like a lot of laughter) when we sat together to watch our previous photos and videos during trips, hangouts and everything else. Isn't it just so cool to have a bunch of friends who are crazy, in a good way of course.

DSC04471

Oh I can't forget to mention the fu-chuk gang. I intentionally bought more fu-chuks so that I can enjoy fully. I had no idea some of them love it very much as well. We dedicated one soup-boiling session just for fu-chuks. Awesome!

Anyways, SSD gang, what will happen without your existence? Life would be much duller I guess!

P/S: I feel a lot fatter now. Thanks guys!

Tearing Things

Posted by KelvinK | Posted in ,

So I've been receiving complaints of not updating frequently. I humbly apologize but because I'm just so busy doing work, especially when it's the exam season now. I was kinda stressed out by the exams actually.

I couldn't help it but to feel stressed out and at the same time, sick of this stupid subject. Business Information System is the name. I mean, I'm already in Year 2, almost to the end, and I have to face this stupid Year 1 subject. Honestly, it's such a waste of my precious time, studying for it, learning it and then deleting it from my memory immediately.

Let's not get me started on the lousy assignments and tutorials that I had to go through. for this subject. I've never felt more useless in any particular subject. In any case, Year 1 subjects suck! All it would get me to do is this:

It feels really good to tear stupid notes!

Yes, I just finished ONE paper. 3 more to go. GREAT!

The Jogoya Experience - Gluttony

Posted by KelvinK | Posted in , ,

Perhaps it is one of the most heard names in the history of Japanese food in KL at least - Jogoya. It's like everyone knows what and where Jogoya is when they talk about Japanese buffet. I went there with my family to celebrate my birthday and two other great news. Isn't it great? Killing 3 birds with one jelly bean.

Here are some of the pictures of food that I took while I was eating. Unfortunately, this is all I can give to you because I need to indulge myself in the food. Don't give me that you're-such-a-glutton look! I need to make my money worth okay? Let the food pictures do the talking.

DSC03934
It's like a must-drink as compared to all other drinks there.
I had like more than 5. You can have more!

Unagi and salmon sushi~

Dim sum~

Herbal sauce with lamb~

DSC03960
Vegetable pot. You know, like steamboat style!

Personally, one of the most worthy food is the Unagi. I might be biased because I'm like this huge fan of Unagi. Nothing is nicer than Unagi (well, except for Mariah songs. LOL!). The rest is secondary. I can just feed on Unagi and Unagi alone.

DSC03966
Look at the size. It's like longer than my fingers!

DSC03980
I gotta admit. I had more than 10 plates of these and I feel like vomitting after that!

Okay, put aside the biaseness! Another worth indulging-in food would be the dessert, HAAGEN DAAZ ice cream. Seriously, just eating that alone would make all your money worth, and I mean to the max. Nothing beats Haagen Daaz! When you actually take the chocolate ice cream, it's like you're eating chocolate, like REAL chocolate. I need to go for Haagen Daaz soon.

DSC03952
I still miss it alot~

DSC03964

Generally, the food there ain't that awesome. The spread is wide, so you have many choices. Every table is provided with clips where you can go around ordering food and they'll deliver them to you. Only thing is, you might have put so many clips, you forgot which came and which didn't. Anyhow, it's worth trying if you haven't been there. The price is not that affordable though. If you want to go, I'd suggest the lunch or dinner. The spread is wider.

One important note: to make your money worth, take more ice cream. The tip is, take the ice cream before you start eating the rest because when you actually wait till it's time for dessert, the queue will be very long. I'll probably go there again...Maybe in 2 years time.

Last but not least...

Redeemed '09

Posted by KelvinK | Posted in , ,

It was already 7.30pm and it seemed like the hall is not even half filled. Everyone especially the crew was running around, making sure things are in control. I personally was being worried about the drama and getting ready to control the projectors with Joanna backstage. It was a big relief to see the crowd finally start filling the big hall.

IMG_3284

IMG_3307When the hall was pitch black, it was already the cue to play the videos lined up for the opening of the whole event. As soon as the videos were done, the lights were on slowly, seeing Charissa and Kimberley dancing their ballet-ish dance on Awakening. Once they finished together with the song, the dance team has already gotten ready in front of the audience. The worship team started playing and singing Point of Difference, accompanying the energetic and well-choreographed dance. It definitely got the crowd moving their bodies, if not, tapping their feet to the song. It was really good since it was a live performance.

IMG_3349

The committee decided not to throw the CF t-shirts away loosely, so they had games this year. Whoever who volunteered to go up the stage and participate will get the t-shirt. Now, there were a couple of games which I thought they were pretty lame (again, I always think that games are lame) but it definitely made the crowd laugh and get comfortable. Joseph, the emcee made the crowd feel at home for sure.

IMG_3408

IMG_3429He later introduced the lyrical dance on Worthy is The Lamb song. It was a moving dance, accompanied by two guys with flags. I was pretty sure the crowd was paying full attention to the whole dance.
What's more impressing is at the end when all the dancers put their hands together to use pieces of satin cloth to form a fan. Seeing the coordination of them swapping places from one end to another, just makes you feel like being a part of the dance. It was really impressive.

IMG_3442

IMG_3451

Joseph then introduced Joe Loy and the Warehouse Project, our invited guest singer. The band did a few numbers, featuring Stop and Stare and some of their own produced songs. I have to be honest, during the rehearsal, I thought the singing was a little off here and there, but I definitely can't doubt their talent. They did perfectly well during the real thing, hyping up the crowd. You gotta admit, everyone's up for good singing and music.

IMG_3219

IMG_3562Performances are almost never ending. After the few numbers they did, the crowd applauded profusely. The whole hall became pitch black again while curtains are being closed. The crowd must be wondering, "What's next?". The drama team now getting ready for the drama. The drama, originally named Redeemed, was changed to Measure Up by the committee. Consist of 6 actors, they played different roles in different scenes. It was written to be an emo, yet meaningful play. It ended with a heroic escape from death. I thought the drama could be better in so many other ways but it still brought the message - the message of Christ - across, I believe.

IMG_3645

IMG_3636

Pastor Rose took over the stage to share the gospel in respond to all the performances that night, basing on the drama as well. It was a meaningful preaching that is relative to the lives of students that were attending the event that evening.

IMG_3659

As soon as she finished preaching, the worship team took over the stage and started Praise and Worship. It was one of the main highlights that night. They were singing their hearts out, leading the people in praise and worship to the Almighty God. People were all hyped up and moving together with the songs. Some of the CF people were actually jumping and dancing to the song.

IMG_3694

The event ended at roughly 10.30pm and people can be seen leaving with a satisfied heart. The crew was of course busy packing up their very own props, instruments, rubbish and everything else. It was a great experience for those who were involved that night. After months and months of hard work and practices, it finally paid off.

Well, all good things will come to an end. Come to think of it, it kinda seem like after so many practices, it all ended in about 2 hours. Having said so, without those practices, that evening wouldn't be as successful as it was. A great BRAVO to the planning committee for organizing the whole event and praise God for guiding everyone involved that night. I believe the seed is planted and it will be harvested in due time.

Rich, Stucked-Up Kid

Posted by KelvinK | Posted in , , , ,

Many of the people outside there might just share the same view as the rest of the world about me. I've always wondered what kind of first impression do I give to people.

Let me just point out one of the major ones that I've received from others. To start things off, I shall quote Angelina, "When I first saw you, I thought you were those rich, stucked up kids". Okay, by far, her words are the strongest in describing this impression. I've gotten some other feedbacks that points out the same, only in different words. I know I always go for Starbucks, I don't wear pasar malam clothes and all but it still doesn't mean I'm rich. As much as I'm always trying to dress as appropriate and chic (at least I'm trying to) as possible all the time, it still doesn't mean I'm rich.

Although it is true that I don't really like brandless stuff. However, branded stuff might not be as pricey as you think anyway. I guess it's also because I'm always acting too DIVA or in my terms, DIVO in front of my friends. I don't know about the rest, but it's really fun. People might come to conclusions of me not being able to even gasp for my own air. It is as if I need someone to collect the air for me and put into my nose or something. Not that extreme, but I do portray such things sometimes (what to do? too diva). Sometimes I'm even too diva to scoop ice cream out of the tub (Nally can testify to that). It's just like this:

DSC03927 (2) copy
I gotta admit, I can't even go pass transferring milk properly!

Honestly, I don't think I'm a "rich, stucked up kid" at all. And I really think you need to know me a little longer to know that fact. As a matter of fact, I ain't that stucked up anyway considering the fact that I still do my housework. I'm like the male version of Cinderella, having to clean the house (please don't tell my Mum I complaint).

Told ya I do work

DSC03932 (2) copy

Anyway, I still crave for a lavish lifestyle, a life of Diva-ity (I should really copyright this term) and also a life of expensivity. I'll work harder reaching that level since I'm not born with some golden-silver-grey-red-blue-chrome spoon in my mouth. That ain't wrong! Right?

No Longer A Teen

Posted by KelvinK | Posted in , , ,

Before you start shooting me down with your priceless bullets, I know I need to apologize because this is like the most overdue post ever. I've been bogged down by a lot of work, and I mean a lot of work. It's exactly 2 weeks past my birthday and now only I'm telling about it. Before I begin, I just need to shout that I'm no longer teen (I've joined the 20's club apparently).

First off, of course, my family members. My parents booked a place at Jogoya to celebrate my birthday (together with 2 other great news). It's the second time I'm there and still it looks as classy. Well, honestly, the food there ain't awesome but add on together with the ambience and class, it's definitely a great place to celebrate someone's birthday (especially when you've got great offers). Other than that, it's just another eating place. I enjoyed myself thoroughly, indulging myself with Japanese food, which I seem to enjoy very much. Not forgetting my parents' birthday gift to me. They actually bought me a watch. Seriously, this has gotta be the most expensive watch I've ever owned (at least for now). I loved the watch so much that I don't even want to wear it.

Awesome meal with my awesome family!

CIMG1986
My nice Victorinox Swiss Army. I'm treasuring it!

I can't forget to tell you about my favourite SSD gang. I was so busy that I even forgot about my birthday. Sammi just asked me the night before to go for lunch because she wanted to ask me about the assignment. I can't even suspect because that's what we've been doing for the past few weeks. Once I reach the cafeteria of UCSI, sat down and chat a little and all of a sudden, BIRTHDAY SONG! Can you believe the embarassment I was going through? It's like everyone's looking and I had to cover my face, hiding the "shame". But it's really funny and I thank them for their thoughtfulness. SSD, you guys always make me feel like crying (just the feeling of it).

CIMG1940
This gang never fail to make me happy, ALL THE TIME

DSC03923

On my birthday itself, a CF gang asked me out for lunch as well at Mannah Cafe. We had a great time there laughing and chatting while waiting for the Royal Food (insider joke). Coincidentally, Su Ann's birthday was on the same day, so they celebrated for the both of us. There's another cake and singing. I just feel really embarass when they do that in public but I still love them for their thoughtfulness.

Then, comes my Fish Gang. I still had no idea why we are called the "fishes" but I'm thinking of a more glamourous name for this gang that can still bring out the Fish element. They were very straightforward as to telling me that they wanted to celebrate my birthday for me. Knowing my schedule, they just asked me to push everything away for that day. They brought me to Chillies. It's my 1st time (OMG! Sampat!) there and again, I fed myself with food, feeling like a glutton. They actually spent me lunch in Chillies. You guys are the best, I tell you. We spent like a few hours sitting there, eating and chatting and laughing and other things that you couldn't imagine (more like you don't wanna imagine).

2576_62353296287_649171287_2076352_4071517_n
Sorry, no Chillies photos since we were to busy eating.
We went to Toys R' Us and unbehave ourselves with toys!

Ok, probably one of the reasons why this post is so long overdue is because right up till this week, there are still friends giving me presents. Now I can sum it all up! I need to thank each and everyone for reminding me that I'm old celebrating my 20th birthday for me as well as those thoughtful gifts and cards. Special thanks to my family members for their heavy angpows. Not forgetting those awesome wishes in Facebook, sms-es, MSN messages and many more.

DSC04049
My presents. Hmm, I think I missed out some. Sorry!

You guys rock!
