Maths - The Hard Way

Let's have some Math lesson here. This is one of my favourite topics in modern maths, not forgetting it's not a very difficult one. I'm supposed to teach this topic today to my Form 3 student today which covers Circles 1 and 2. So I started with Circles 1 since it's the basic. Let's look at some exercise of finding the circumference:

Maths 1
Seriously, do you do maths this way? He has the guts to tell me that he doesn't do fraction the simplified way but the long way which is why he always cannot finish his Paper 2 for exams and he laughed. I didn't know if I should die on the spot or slap him. I can't imagine how much time he wastes during exams.

Maths 2

I forgot to mention it took me half an hour to explain that "pi d" is the same as "2 pi r". I actually gotta break it out for him to see and yet he forgets about it after every question. It just kinda gets on my nerves when he does that.

If you refer to Picture 1, he actually put 49 as "pi". All I said was, just look at the question to know if your "pi" is 22/7 or 3.142, they are the same. Everytime when I ask him what's "pi", he has to stare at the universe to think of the answer when the answer is just in front of him. I wonder how he's gonna remember formulae on area of circle and all the other topics. His foundation is seriously weak, mind you.

Oh well, it's definitely gonna make me thinner by days after every lesson. But I'm gonna take it as a challenge to make him get an A for his PMR. I'll think of other alternatives to make him understand. It's a way to test my skills of teaching to the next level.

Ps: I'll definitely write a great big post if he gets an A or something above what he can get than normal. In any case of me not posting anything about it, you know what happened. But I'm stubborn and adamant about it. He can do it!
